My name is Rebecca Dezonno and I have been a teacher for 22 years. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995. I taught 4-8th grades at St. Sylvester for five years, 2nd grade for two years at St. Matthias, and the last 15 years at St. Viator. Most of my time has been spent teaching in the junior high grades. I am married to a Chicago Police Detective for the past 14 years and I have one daughter who attends 4th grade at St. Viator. Our family also consists of our Guinea pig Clyde and two dogs-Baby and Snickers. I have lived in Chicago my entire life, but have traveled quite a bit. We have a house in Wisconsin that we love to get away to throughout the year. I love to read, cook, spend time with my family, animals. crafts, walk, and spend time in nature. I am an advocate for the treatment of animals and belong to various animal rights groups. I am especially fond of farm animals and have sponsored Winnie the pig out of the Heartland Animal Sanctuary in Wisconsin and planted a tree at Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary in Canada. You can always find me with a cup of coffee (I am a coffee snob) and a book. My house is decorated for EVERY holiday. My favorite place to spend time is at the Morton Arboretum and Brookfield Zoo. I love to teach and share the joy of books with my students. My job is complete when I can instill a love of reading into them.
